The Metals:

 

Gold edged up to $1259.70 in Asia before it drifted back to $1253.90 in late morning New York trade, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.09%. Silver slipped to as low as $17.132 and ended with a loss of 0.17%.

 

Euro gold fell to about €1120, platinum remained at $946, and copper climbed a penny to about $2.60.

 

Gold and silver equities fell roughly 1% at the open and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow brings Durable Goods Orders, GDP, and Consumer Sentiment.

 

The Markets:

 

 

Oil fell almost 5% after OPEC did not deepen cuts or extend them beyond the 9 months that was already widely expected.

 

The U.S. dollar index ended modestly higher as commodity currencies followed oil lower.

 

Treasuries rose along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P again on decent earnings reports and differing views about how aggressive the fed will be with regards to raising interest rates.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were WideOpenWest, Best, Buy, Dollar Tree, Sears, and Signet.
